January 6, 2020

Welcome Back!! I hope y'all have had a great holiday!  I am so excited to hear about what Santa brought that was  expected and unexpected! I have questions about some of the items they requested!lol

We do have some noticeable changes in our class....we've added the adorable, Allie Puckett to our mist!! But we have lost half or our precious class when a new unit was added to help out with class size.  Mrs. Leisa Beam will be their new teacher.  She is a wonderful addition to our Lakeside family. The kids will love her!! We will still see our precious friends every day at p.e., special areas, lunch, and recess.  Thank goodness!!

I am so excited about the upcoming year! I have been busy making plans for us to step up our pace and participate in more activities to challenge students to become more involved in their learning as well as leaders of their learning.  I can't wait to get started!!

I want to begin by challenging each student to meet their AR goal!! Reading is a lifelong skill and the more you read, the better reader you become. I have found some great books to introduce to your child.  I hope this will increase the desire to read different kinds of bools and to just plain read!!

Reading-We will be reading Victor's Journal, reviewing fact and opinion, compare and contrast. We will continue our unit of study of Our Community.

Spelling/Phonics-We are studying long a and long e this week.

Grammar-We are studying subject-verb agreement and reviewing our writing skills.

Social Science-We will discuss and write our New Year's Resolutions.  We will do a short unit on snow/snowmen and incorporate a STEM activity.  Then study penguins.....so be on the llookout for all things penguin to bring into share!!
