Valentine's Day is almost here! Can you feel the love in the air? I can hardly believe we are already passed the half way mark of the third nine weeks. Time sure has flown by!
This week your child has been given their new reading book for part 2. We will begin Unit 4 today!! We will be studying Plants and Animals. We have practiced doing research on animals, working toward our project that we will complete on an animal of their choice that they'd like to know more about. They will present this information to the class. I am so excited about which animal they will choose! It makes for a very interesting unit ending! Love! Love! (See love really is in the air!)
We will be reading, Flower Power this week. We will take our test on it on Friday. Please see the study guide to help......while you can!
We are studying long o words in phonics and will test on those on Friday as well.
In grammar, we are studying collective nouns. Please see the handout in their binders for more information about those. This test will be next week on Feb. 27th.
In math, we will take our next test on Friday. We are also studying our 3's in multiplication. They have cards to use to study. We will do fact drills for practice.
In social science, we are studying plants and animals to go along with our unit in reading. We will emphasize the animals and the connection plants have to them since we studied them briefly back in the fall.
Our Valentine's Day party will be on Friday at 11:00 in the atrium by the lunchroom. We will exchange our Valentines in class before the party. We will have both groups of second grade together for the party!! We will be having pizza, so no need to send or pay for a lunch!!
