Nov. 18, 2019

We are so excited about our trip today to Tisa's Bakery!  Studying matter and seeing it in the "real" world really helps children to make a connection between what they are learning in the classroom with what goes on in the world! It also provides an enriching experience for them to use as background experience as we write about all the things they have learned! Not to mention it's a delicious way to learn! lol

Our next field trip will be coming up quickly as well. Dec. 5th, we will be making our way to Auburn University to the Engineering Dept. to take part in a STEM activity making snow.  This will really be seeing matter in a different way!  It will also give us another opportunity to write about sequence of events and how that makes a difference in how things turn out. Christmas is also around the corner. The making of snow will really get us into the Christmas spirit!!

This week in language arts we will continue our study from last week.  Our tests will be on Friday....for grammar, spelling, and reading!

In math, this week as we come to Lesson 55 (on Thursday), we will have our fact drill test-facts for 13 and 14, plus review previous facts, and the written assessment.

Social Science- we are still studying matter.  Our field trips are providing a lot of hands on experience to help with understanding the 3 states of matter:  solids, liquids, and gases.  We have also been involved in experiments to help with the understanding of gas and its properties.  Exciting stuff!! I sure hope your child had come home sharing the details with you and using any technological device to search out more information on it!! That is my hope anyway!1

Class picture day is tomorrow!!

Well, we are off to a week of fun and learning!  Let me know if you have any questions
