Mrs. Gulledge’s       Classroom Newsletter     Oct. 14-18

Now that we have been writing for almost a whole nine weeks, (Can you believe it? Wow!) we will be incorporating these skills into our sentences.  The expectation that a capital letter and an end mark will be used automatically, and other skills such as subject/predicates, verbs, and now adjectives will be incorporated into sentences we write to add greater details.

*The last day to meet the first nine weeks AR goal will be Tuesday! We will take the STAR test again on Thursday to see how much progress has been made! Let’s begin the second nine weeks with a bang……and start reading those books!!

  Focus Skills for the Week

Grammar: We will be studying adjectives, comparative adjectives, and articles (a, an, and the). Test on Oct. 25th. Reading: We will begin Unit 2 Earth in Action by reading Mattland; test on Friday. Spelling/Phonics: Test on Friday Writing:  Informative/explanatory Writing Math:  Math Test this week. Science:  Matter (solids/liquids/gases)/Investigate a pumpkin

Oct. 15th-Last Day to take AR tests to meet your goal!!!!
Oct. 16th-End of the First Nine Weeks
Oct. 17th-Fall Festival
Oct. 23rd-Field Trip Money due; $20 for students; $12 for adults
